Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, February 09, 2012.

A disturbance dropping southeastward across the Great Basin will reach the southern Rockies on Thursday. The system will kick up light snow showers in the Central and Southern Rockies. Snow accumulation is expected to fairly light, with only an inch or two at best over the San Juans and

southern Sangres mountains. Meanwhile, another disturbance moving out of northeastern Mexico will move into Texas. This energy will interact with moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will produce light rain showers in the Southern Plains. Elsewhere in the West, a warm front will move through western Washington, bringing light showers to the Pacific Northwest through the morning. Offshore flow and ridging could give clearing and

warmer temperature to the region by the afternoon.

In the East, a cold front from southern Canada will drop into the Great Lakes and Central Plains during the day. This system will kick up snow showers in parts of the Upper Great Lakes, primarily in northern Michigan. Elsewhere, high pressure builds over the Eastern Valleys with generally calm and dry weather conditions.

Winter Weather Advisory
Mobile & Email Alerts Statement as of 3:50 PM CST on February 09, 2012

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 9 PM CST this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow which is in effect until 9 PM CST this
evening.

* Timing... steady snow will continue through sunset and then begin
to taper off.

* Main impact... snow accumulations of around 2 inches can be
expected before the snow tapers off. Accumulations of up to 3
inches will be possible in a few locations in southeast
Comanche or southwest Barber County.

* Other impacts... travel conditions will be hazardous due to slick
and snow packed roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
