Statement as of 6:16 AM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening... A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening. * Strong winds... blowing snow... and periods of light snow will continue today across north central Kansas. * Additional snowfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected today... with the higher totals generally expected north of a line from Phillipsburg to Beloit. * Strong winds will continue today. Winds of 25 to 35 mph will be common... with gusts to 45 mph possible. The strong winds will at times create areas of blowing snow. * Expect very hazardous winter weather driving conditions through this afternoon... with reduced visibilities... and ice or snow covered roads. In areas which experienced some of the heavier snowfall Wednesday... some roads may be impassable due to drifting snow. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Limit unnecessary travel if you can. If you travel... let people know of your Route and progress. Take some extra blankets and supplies in case you become stranded.
