Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:37 PM CDT on July 06, 2015

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Morris County in east central Kansas...
northwestern Shawnee County in east central Kansas...
southeastern Riley County in northeastern Kansas...
central Wabaunsee County in east central Kansas...
southeastern Pottawatomie County in northeastern Kansas...
Geary County in east central Kansas...
southwestern Jackson County in northeastern Kansas...

* until 630 PM CDT

* at 337 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
southern Manhattan... Junction City... Wamego... Rossville... Alma...
St. Marys... Ogden... Grandview Plaza... St. George... Maple Hill...
White City... Alta Vista... Dwight... McFarland... Paxico... Belvue...
Delia... Parkerville... Latimer and Volland.

This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 292 and 340.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
