The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for light freezing rain... which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to 9 am CST Wednesday. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Wednesday evening through Friday morning.
* Timing... light freezing rain will be possible tonight. Any freezing rain should change back to rain by midday Wednesday. Rain or sleet will change to snow Wednesday night. Moderate to heavy snow is then possible from Thursday through Friday morning.
* Total snow and ice accumulations... any ice accumulation tonight should remain around one tenth of an inch. Snowfall accumulations of six or more inches will be possible late Wednesday night through Friday morning.
* Winds... winds tonight and Wednesday should remain northeast at 10 to 15 mph. Winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph on Thursday... causing reduced visibilities as well as blowing and drifting snow.
* Impacts... travel will become extremely dangerous and difficult Thursday and Thursday night.
