Statement as of 10:39 AM MST on November 15, 2009 ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST /5 am MST/ Monday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST /5 am MST/ Monday. Snow will expand in areal coverage this afternoon and persist through tonight. Storm total snowfall of 4 to 7 inches with locally higher amounts will be possible by the time the snow tapers off Monday. North winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph this afternoon through Monday... possibly resulting in some blowing and drifting of the snow. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow... sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
