Statement as of 6:01 am CST on December 16, 2009 ... On this date in weather history... In 1988... Fairbanks Alaska reported record warm temperatures with freezing rain. The high temperature reached a balmy 41 degrees... which was 43 degrees above normal. In 1989... fifty seven cities in the southern and Central Plains to the Appalachians reported record low temperatures. North Platte Nebraska saw the Mercury plunge to 17 below zero. |
