A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST Friday. * Timing... areas of drizzle and rain is expected to change over to a sleet and snow mixture by mid morning... before changing over to all snow this afternoon. The snow will persist through Friday morning. * Snow accumulations... total snow accumulations will generally range from 4 to 7 inches across southeast Kansas. * Winds... the wind will become quite strong as it increases to speeds of 30 to 35 mph... with gusts up to 50 mph this afternoon into tonight. * Impacts... these high wind speeds in combination with the moderate to heavy snow may cause drifting and severe reductions in the visibility and make traveling very dangerous. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning means significant winter weather is expected or occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Cox
