Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 2:47 AM CDT on July 04, 2009
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued an
* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
eastern Wyandotte County in northeast Kansas...
northeastern Johnson County in east central Kansas...
northwestern Jackson County in west central Missouri...
southeastern Platte County in west central Missouri...
southern Clay County in west central Missouri...
* until 700 am CDT
* at 243 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the Kansas City
metropolitan area. Several thunderstorm clusters tracking over the
same area over the past few hours have produced brief periods of
intense rainfall rates that will likely contribute to urbanized
flooding over the next several hours.
* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along susceptible urban drainage areas and
low spots on area roadways. Locations impacted include the downtown
Kansas City loop and the surrounding suburbs.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
