	Excessive Heat Warning
Statement as of 3:49 PM CDT on July 12, 2009 ... Excessive heat warning now in effect until 9 PM CDT Tuesday... The excessive heat warning is now in effect until 9 PM CDT Tuesday. High temperatures ranging from 100 to 105 degrees will combine with high humidities to produce heat indices ranging from around 105 to 110 degrees in the warned areas. This will occur during the afternoon and early evening on Monday and Tuesday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation where heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids and stay in an air-conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Watch your pets! Make sure they too are kept in a cool environment and have plenty of water. Never leave pets or children unattended in a vehicle for any duration!
