Highs 20 to 25. Northwest winds 25 to 30 mph becoming west 15 to 25 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Lowest wind chills around 4 below.

The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 11 am CST this morning.
* Timing... light to moderate snow will gradually end by late this morning.
* Snow accumulations... up to 1 inch of additional accumulation is expected... with storm total accumulations ranging from 6 to 9 inches.
* Winds... strong northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 45 mph will continue this morning.
* Impacts... the strong northwest winds will cause extensive blowing and drifting snow creating treacherous travel conditions. Visibilities will be intermittently reduced to one-quarter mile or less. In addition... wind chills of zero to 10 below will be common.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant winter weather is expected or occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

On December 24th 2009... 2.8 inches of snow were measured at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. This tied the record snowfall for Christmas eve set way back in 1918.
