Winter Weather Advisory

... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 9 am CST
The Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain and snow is now in effect
until 9 am CST Saturday.
* Location... the heaviest snow is expected along and and east of
Interstate 35 and Highway 71 with lesser amounts across
extreme western Missouri and eastern Kansas including the
Kansas City Metro area.
* Timing... freezing drizzle or light freezing rain may occur
early Friday morning... transitioning to rain by late Friday
morning. A change over to snow will likely take place between
6 PM and 9 PM. The heaviest snow will likely end by midnight
Friday night. Light snow will end early Saturday morning.
* Snow/ice accumulations... ice accumulations up to a tenth of an
inch will be possible. Snow amounts ranging from 1 to 3 inches
will be possible.
* Impacts... exposed surfaces including roadways will become
very slick. Once the snow begins... visibility may become low
during the periods of heaviest snow. Roads could also become
packed with snow making travel difficult.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
