The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and and blowing snow... which is in
effect from 5 am MST /6 am CST/ Thursday to 5 am MST /6 am CST/
Friday. The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 5 am MST
/6 am CST/ Thursday.

* Timing/duration... light to moderate snow will continue across
the region today and tonight. The snow will diminish in
intensity overnight tonight.

* Snow/ice accumulations... new snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches
are expected this afternoon and tonight. An additional inch is
possible on Thursday. Total snowfall accumulations by Thursday
morning will range from 4 to 7 inches across eastern Colorado
and much of northwest Kansas with 6 to 9 inches east of Highway
83 in Kansas and southwest Nebraska.

* Winds/visibility... north winds today 10 to 20 mph increasing to
20 to 30 mph late tonight. Winds on Thursday north 25 to 35 mph
with gusts to 40 mph. Visibility frequently 1 to 3 miles
through Thursday from snow and blowing snow.

* Other impacts... roads will remain snow packed today and
tonight. Blowing and drifting snow potential will increase late
tonight continuing through Thursday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations.
Slow down and allow extra time when traveling. Practice your
winter safety rules... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water
in your car in case of emergency.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use extra caution
while driving.
