... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT
this evening...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM
CDT this evening.

* Timing... the wind will increase through the afternoon hours
with the strongest winds expected by mid to late afternoon and
these strong southerly winds should persist into the early
evening hours.

* Winds... southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected with gusts
to 45 mph.

* Impacts... outdoor objects should be secured so they are not
blown around by the strong winds. In addition... driving may be
difficult today... especially for high profile vehicles traveling
east or west. Those traveling to lakes within the advisory area
this Holiday weekend may see dangerous boating conditions
today with many White Caps.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds between 30 to
39 mph or gusts between 45 to 57 mph are expected. Winds this
strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile
vehicles. Use extra caution.

... A new record high temperature for may 26th set at Hastings
Nebraska...

The maximum temperature reported at the Hastings Municipal Airport
today was 100 degrees. This breaks the previous record high
temperature of 97 degrees for this date... .set in 1912... exactly
100 years ago.

In addition... this Marks the earliest day in a calendar year that
Hastings has reached 100 degrees. Temperature records at Hastings
date back to 1906.
