In 1899, strong southwest winds fanned a fire in Saint Francis, Kansas,
around 2:30 am. The winds, combined with dry conditions, fueled the fire
which destroyed about three blocks of the town.
In 1912, a violent F4 tornado developed south of Bartley in Red
Willow County Nebraska and moved northeast to near Cambridge. Three
