A strong low pressure system will develop over the Southern Plains Wednesday... then lift northeast into the Great Lakes region by Saturday.
Precipitation is expected to develop along and west of State Route 31 Wednesday night or early Thursday. Precipitation will initially begin as sleet and freezing rain... but is expected to transition to plain rain from south to north during the afternoon. Further east... most of the day may remain dry... but a period of light snow... sleet... or freezing rain is possible.
Thursday night... precipitation will become heavier and will change to all rain from west to east during the evening. Before this changeover occurs... a period of freezing rain is likely... particularly north of State Route 30. This will likely cause slick travel... especially on untreated surfaces.
Travel throughout much of the Midwest will be impacted by this storm system. Those traveling starting Wednesday should monitor conditions and stay tuned to later updates.
