... Heat advisory in effect until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this
evening.

* Heat index values... 105 to 110 degrees.

* Timing... late this afternoon through this evening.

* Impacts... those with late afternoon or evening plans outdoors
will experience high heat and humidity values which may be
dangerous if precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities. Know the signs and
symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and
loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency - call 9 1 1.

Another day of temperatures in the 90s... combined with oppressive
humidity... will push the afternoon heat index to 100 to 104
degrees.

For those who spend time outside... make sure and drink plenty of
fluids and wear light weight and loose fitting clothing. When
possible... reschedule afternoon activities to the early morning or
evening.

Never leave pets or children inside a parked vehicle. Temperatures
can quickly climb to deadly levels.
