	Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 9:28 PM CST on December 21, 2009 ... Strong storm to impact Holiday travel... A strong low pressure system will develop over the Southern Plains Wednesday... then lift northeast into the Great Lakes region by Saturday. Precipitation is expected to develop along and west of State Route 31 late Wednesday night or early Thursday. Precipitation will initially begin as sleet and freezing rain... but is expected to transition to plain rain by afternoon. Further east... some light snow... sleet... or freezing is possible through Christmas eve day. Thursday night... precipitation will become heavier and will change to all rain from west to east during the evening with a period of moderate rainfall expected overnight. The exact amounts and duration of wintry precipitation is uncertain at this time. Most locations can expect at least a period of freezing rain and sleet with a period of slick travel conditions likely. Travel conditions across the area and much of the Midwest will be impacted by this storm system. Those traveling starting Wednesday should monitor conditions and look for later updates and watches.
