... A significant storm is expected to impact the Midwest later
this week...

A strong area of low pressure is expected to move through the
Midwest later this week... impacting much of the
Midwest... including Indiana... during the days leading up to
the Christmas Holiday.

Present indications are that periods of light freezing rain are possible
from after midnight tonight... through Wednesday and Wednesday
night... and into Thursday morning. At this time... the best threat
for freezing rain will be for areas northeast of a Newport to
Bedford line. Light accumulations of ice are possible in these
areas... but remember that even light accumulations of ice can make
traveling difficult.

Locations southwest of this line will likely see just rain.

By Thursday afternoon... warmer air working into the area should allow
temperatures to rise to above freezing... so any freezing rain will
change over to just rain. Colder air moving into the area behind
the storm on Christmas day should change to rain over to light
snow.

There is still uncertainty regarding exactly where the freezing
line will set up during the course of this storm... which will
have a bearing on the type of precipitation that will ultimately fall
across central Indiana.

Those planning on traveling over the Holiday are encouraged to
