Governor Mitch Daniels has proclaimed November 15 through November 21
As winter weather preparedness week in Indiana.
The National Weather Service... working with our partners... the State
Police... the departments of Homeland security... transportation and
Education... and the Red Cross will provide information on winter
Weather safety. The media will continue their important role by
Carrying messages in newspapers... on the radio and on television.
The goal of winter weather preparedness week is to help you
Understand The Hazards of winter weather. Knowing winter weather
Terms and winter weather safety tips will reduce weather related
Problems. Remember when watches and warnings are issued you need to
Enact your plans to remain safe from the dangers winter may bring.
The National Weather Service Indianapolis office will issue daily
Public information statements starting Monday. These statements will
Contain the following information...
Monday... exposure to cold and wind chill
Tuesday... winter weather travel safety
Wednesday... outdoor safety during winter
Thursday... winter weather preparedness and emergency kits
Friday... safety considerations for schools
Saturday... summarizing winter weather points for the week
Winter weather information will be on NOAA radio broadcasts and on
National Weather Service websites.
