Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 11:58 AM CST on March 04, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST
Thursday...

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Thursday.

* Timing: the main changeover line from freezing rain and sleet to
snow was along a line from from Marble Hill Missouri to Marion
Illinois to Evansville Indiana. Sleet and freezing rain extended
south to a Dexter Missouri to Metropolis Illinois to near
Henderson Kentucky. As colder air moves in... these areas will
move south through the afternoon. Sleet and freezing rain will
spread southward across Kentucky and far southeast Missouri
early this afternoon and snow will follow. By 6 PM it should be
all snow north of a line from Mayfield to Calhoun Kentucky with
sleet to the south. The sleet will changeover to snow over the
remaining area by 9 PM. Snow will be heavy at times... especially
late this afternoon and early evening. The snow will taper off
from northwest to southeast after midnight.

* Main impact: by early Thursday morning... snowfall totals are
expected to range from four to six inches generally north and
west of a line from Mount Carmel Illinois to Perryville and
Van Buren Missouri. South and east of that line... six to eight
inches is forecast. An eight to ten inch swath of snowfall is
possible generally twenty-five miles either side of a line
from Sikeston Missouri to Paducah and Madisonville Kentucky
Kentucky. One half to one inch of sleet may fall prior to the
snow. It should be noted that if freezing rain and sleet
persist longer than expected... snow amounts may not be as
high.

* Other impacts: this quantity of snow and sleet accumulation
will produce treacherous conditions and cause significant
travel issues across the region. Isolated power outages will
also be possible. Stay tuned for updates and possible
adjustments to snowfall totals.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
