Kosciusko Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Special Statement
Statement as of 1:31 PM CDT on April 15, 2014

...Damage to outdoor plants and Flowers possible tonight...

Clearing skies and diminishing winds will allow a favorable setup for temperatures to fall rapidly tonight into the lower to middle 20s in many locations. Areas prone to enhanced air drainage may be even colder with lows in the upper teens.

The cold winter and early Spring has slowed the onset of the growing season for the region. As a result...most trees are in the initial budding stages when they are able to withstand cold temperatures. However...many annual/perennial Flowers and plants are seeing more rapid growth. These plants are much more susceptible to the cold. It is recommended that those plants more susceptible to damage from cold either be covered or brought inside tonight. More seasonable temperatures are expected the remainder of the week into next week.
