Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 9:00 PM CDT on October 30, 2014

...Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 am to 10 PM CDT Friday...

* winds...up to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph expected by early Friday afternoon. Even stronger winds up around 55 mph are likely near Lake Michigan.

* Snow...the threat of heavy bursts of lake effect snow showers... possibly accompanied by thunder and lightning...exists Friday afternoon and evening. This could result in slushy snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches...with locally higher amounts possible.

* Main impact...strong northerly winds combined with the threat for bursts of heavy snowfall could limit visibilities under a mile and make travel hazardous across the area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for strong winds and lake effect snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of the blowing and falling snow. Use caution when traveling... especially in open areas.
