A small area of showers and thunderstorms is moving quickly across northern Kane County and will reach northern Cook County by 3:00 am. This storm is weakening...but still has the potential to produce frequent lightning and brief heavy downpours. The storm should reach the Lakefront area...near Evanston...by 3:45 am. Another area of strong thunderstorms is moving southeast through southern Wisconsin. These storms should reach the Illinois Wisconsin border by around 3:30 am and continue to spread over the northern tier counties through the early morning hours. These storms have the potential to become severe...producing large hail and strong wind gusts...in addition to frequent lightning and brief...heavy rain. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or other media outlets for possible Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Be prepared to take appropriate action should warnings be issued.
