* Through late tonight
* the storm system which is causing this rain is continuing to drift east across the area. Expect bands of moderate rain to continue to affect parts of northeast Missouri and west central Illinois this afternoon. Average rainfall accumulations for this afternoon will be around 1/2 inch... but locally higher amounts will be possible. Additional moderate to heavy rain is expected tonight. Expect widespread rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches tonight.
* Expect gradual rises up to and exceeding flood stage on area streams and rivers through the period. Localized heavy rain could cause smaller streams and creeks to respond more rapidly than larger rivers.
