Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:59 PM CST on November 15, 2009
... Flood Watch remains in effect through late Monday night...
The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of southwest Illinois and Missouri... including the
following counties... in southwest Illinois... Madison IL...
Monroe IL... Randolph IL and St. Clair IL. In Missouri...
Jefferson... St. Charles... St. Francois... St. Louis... St. Louis
city... Ste. Genevieve and Washington.
* Through late Monday night
* moderate to heavy rainfall will overspread the area from the
west this evening. The potential for heavy rain will continue
through Monday into Monday night as an upper level storm
system moves into the Mississippi Valley.
* Expect gradual rises up to and exceeding flood stage on area
streams and rivers through the period. Localized heavy rain
could cause smaller streams and creeks to respond more rapidly
than larger rivers.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in
the watch area. People in the watch area are urged to check on
preparedness requirements... especially if you have interests
along area rivers. Stay informed... and be ready for action if
flooding is observed or if a Flood Warning is issued.
