Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 26, 2012.

The main weather feature over the nation will be a low pressure system moving off the Rockies and into the Plains on Saturday. Flow around this system continues pushing a warm front eastward, over the Plains and through the Midwest. Expect widespread showers and thunderstorms to develop along this frontal boundary, from the Northern and Central Plains through the Great Lakes. Some of these storms will turn severe with strong winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall. Severe thunderstorms are most likely over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. By Saturday evening, the tail end of this system will reach the Northeast, bringing lighter and more widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region.

The back side of this broad low pressure system will continue pulling cool air in from Canada. This will allow for rain showers to turn to snow showers at the highest elevations of the Northern Rockies, Intermountain West, and Central Rockies. At the same time, strong and gusty winds will persist for the southern side of this system. In combination with warm and dry conditions, this will maintain high fire danger for the Southwest and Southern Rockies.

In the Southeast, expect more shower and thunderstorm activity over Florida and the Carolinas as an area of low pressure lingers just offshore. Some areas may see severe thunderstorm development with gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 130 am CDT
for southwestern Whiteside... northeastern Rock Island... south central
Clinton and northeastern Scott counties...

At 1248 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds
around 60 mph... and quarter size hail. This storm was located
approximately near Scott County Park... or 11 miles north of
Bettendorf... moving east at 35 mph.

Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
McCausland... Princeton... Folletts... Princeton wildlife area...
Cordova... Rock Creek Park and Hillsdale.

This includes Interstate 88 between mile markers 11 and 17.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This is a dangerous storm. Move immediately indoors and stay away
from windows.
