A Winter Weather Advisory for snow... sleet... and blowing snow remains in effect until 6 PM CST Wednesday.
* Timing: snow and sleet will become widespread by this afternoon and evening... with the heaviest snows expected between 7 PM Tuesday and 4 am Wednesday.
* Accumulations: snow totals of 3 to 5 inches will be likely west of the Illinois River... with 1 to 3 inches east of the river. Periods of sleet will also be possible this evening.
* Wind: the strongest winds will begin developing early Wednesday morning... as the storm system moves to the northeast and intensifies. Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph will gust to near 45 mph by late Wednesday morning into the afternoon.
* Impacts: hazardous travel conditions are expected... as roads quickly become snow covered and slippery this afternoon and evening. Reduced visibility is also expected due to the combination of snow and wind. Blowing and drifting snow can be expected on Wednesday.
