    ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Paducah ASOS...

    A band of strong thunderstorms moved across the Paducah Kentucky
    area during the early evening hours on Friday... bringing brief
    periods of torrential rains.

    A record rainfall of 1.94 inches was set at the Paducah ASOS
    yesterday, July 25th. This breaks the old record of 1.72 set on this
    date in 1950. A daily rainfall of 1.94 inches is 44 percent of the
    average July monthly rain total.

    The highest one day rainfall total for Paducah during the month of
    July is 5.48 inches... which occurred on July 3rd, 1983.

    Elsewhere across the quad state area... Evansville Indiana recorded
    0.08 inches... Carbondale Illinois received 0.84 inches... and 0.22
    inches was recorded at Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff Missouri.
