... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST Wednesday...
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST Wednesday.
* Timing: precipitation will continue to overspread the advisory area late this afternoon and evening. Precipitation is expected to begin as a period of snow... before mixing with and changing to sleet early this evening... and then changing to rain this late this evening. Rain will continue overnight with precipitation changing back to snow Wednesday morning.
* Accumulations: an additional inch or two of snow could occur before precipitation changes to sleet and rain. Any snow that accumulates today will likely melt tonight once rain develops... however an additional inch or two of snow could fall during the day Wednesday.
* Misc hazards: should the snow that falls Wednesday be light and fluffy enough then strong west winds gusting over 40 mph could result in blowing and drifting snow... mainly in more open rural areas.
* Impacts: travel conditions will likely deteriorate late this afternoon before precipitation changes to rain and temperatures rise above freezing this evening. Travel could become hazardous again Wednesday afternoon with any additional snowfall and with black ice forming as temperatures plummet well below freezing.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that accumulating snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Use extra caution while driving.
