The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of central Illinois... including the following area... Sangamon.
* Until midnight CST tonight
* expect periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches will be possible... with some locally higher amounts.
* The latest soil temperatures across central Illinois indicate the frost depth at between 3 to 5 inches. The combination of the expected rainfall coupled with the frozen topsoil will help to produce significant runoff into area rivers... creeks and streams.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of central Illinois... including the following area... Sangamon.
* Through Friday afternoon
* at 330 PM CST... the dam operator reported that water is being released from Spaulding dam at Lake Springfield. Because of this there is substantial flow of water in Sugar Creek downstream of Spaulding dam. Additional heavy rains of a half to 1 inch through tonight could aggravate water levels more.
* If you live in the low lying areas below Spaulding dam on Sugar Creek... keep abreast of the situation and stay alert to changing conditions.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
