Statement as of 8:41 PM CST on December 24, 2009 The Flood Warning continues for the Illinois River at Valley City. * Until further notice. * At 8 PM Thursday the stage was 12.4 feet. * Flood stage is 11.0 feet. * Minor flooding is forecast. * Forecast... the river will rise to near 19.9 feet Thursday evening. Additional rises may be possible thereafter. * Impact... at 14.0 feet... Road to norbut fish and wildlife area flooded. 841 PM CST Thu Dec 24 2009 The Flood Warning continues for the Illinois River at Meredosia. * Until further notice. * At 8 PM Thursday the stage was 431.7 feet. * Flood stage is 432.0 feet. * Major flooding is forecast. * Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage tomorrow and then rise to near 439.1 feet Thursday evening. Additional rises are possible thereafter. * Impact... at 438.0 feet... main Road in Valley City overtopped

The Flood Watch continues for * portions of Illinois and Missouri... including the following counties... in Illinois... Adams IL... Bond IL... Brown IL... Calhoun IL... Clinton IL... Fayette IL... Greene IL... Jersey IL... Macoupin IL... Madison IL... Marion IL... Monroe IL... Montgomery IL... Pike IL... Randolph IL... St. Clair IL and Washington IL. In Missouri... Jefferson... St. Charles... St. Louis... St. Louis city and Ste. Genevieve. * Until 6 am CST early this morning * persistent light to moderate rain is expected to continue for the remainder of the night over already saturated ground and many area rivers and creeks at bankfull. This will maintain the flooding threat as any additional rainfall will go as runoff into these bodies of water. * Excessive runoff could lead to flooding along creeks and rivers across the area. Precautionary/preparedness actions... People in the watch area should continue to be aware of the possibility for heavy rainfall.
