Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:37 PM CST on November 16, 2009
... Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday afternoon...
The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of west central Illinois... southeast Iowa and
northeast Missouri... including the following areas... in west
central Illinois... Hancock... Henderson... McDonough and Warren.
In southeast Iowa... Des Moines... Henry IA... Jefferson...
Keokuk... Lee... Louisa... Van Buren and Washington. In northeast
Missouri... Clark and Scotland.
* Through Tuesday afternoon
* widespread rainfall amounts from 1 to 3 inches are expected
tonight through Tuesday as a slow moving storm system impacts the
region.
* Runoff from the rainfall is expected to cause significant rises and
possible flooding on area rivers. Also... swaths of more
localized heavy rainfall rates may result in flooding of small
streams and creeks. Expect drainage ditches and other low lying
areas to become inundated with water during this extended period
of significant rain.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. Monitor later forecasts and take action if a
Flood Warning is issued or flooding develops.
