Statement as of 8:59 AM CST on December 25, 2009 The Flood Warning continues for the Mackinaw river near Congerville. * From this evening to Saturday afternoon. * At 845 am Friday the stage was 12.4 feet. * Flood stage is 13 feet. * Minor flooding is forecast. * Forecast... rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to rise to near 13.1 feet by midnight tonight. The river will fall below flood stage by Saturday morning. * Impact... at 13 feet... widespread agricultural flooding occurs. Statement as of 2:01 PM CST on December 25, 2009 Expect periods of light snow showers across central Illinois into this evening. Snow showers could briefly reduce the visibility to less than a mile at times especially from I-72 north. Snowfall accumulations should stay around a half inch or less... though a few areas from I-72 north could see between a half and 1 inch of snow by early evening. Below freezing temperatures in the 20s will cause some icing to develop on untreated wet roadways. Reduce your speed and be cautious if traveling into this evening due to snow showers and icing possibilities. |
