The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until noon CST today.
* Timing... freezing rain will continue across much of Cook County through noon today.
* Accumulations... up to an additional tenth of an inch of ice will be possible this morning before temperatures rise above freezing. The greatest ice accumulations will be across suburban portions of Cook County... away from downtown Chicago and the shore of Lake Michigan.
* Hazards... accumulation of ice. The accumulation of ice will be greatest on untreated and elevated surfaces. Ice falling from elevated structures could also pose a hazard later this morning and afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing.
* Impacts... ice will likely continue to accumulate this morning... with the greatest accumulations on untreated roadways... bridges... overpasses... and elevated surfaces. While many primary roads have been treated... driving conditions will be hazardous on any Road surface that becomes ice covered. Individuals should also remain aware for falling ice from elevated structures later this morning as temperatures begin to rise above freezing.

Winter Weather Advisory means that a combination of sleet... or freezing rain will result in slippery roadways and cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for hazardous driving conditions and use caution while traveling.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a * Flood Advisory for the Des Plaines river at Riverside. * Until late Saturday night. * At 945 am Thursday the stage was 3.7 feet. * Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. * Flood stage is 7.0 feet. * Forecast... the river will rise to near 6.2 feet by Saturday morning. * Impact... at 6.0 feet... water begins to overflow banks in the lowest areas adjacent to the river.

* Rain is expected to become moderate to occasionally heavy this afternoon and continue through the overnight hours. Total rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches will be common... .with the potential for local 3 inch rainfall totals by Friday morning.
* Current snow cover ranges from 4 to 8 inches across northwest Illinois to 1 to 3 inches across Northwest Indiana. As the snow melts and moderate to occasional heavy rain develops... rapid runoff due to frozen ground conditions will result in significant rises on area rivers... with some rivers possibly reaching or exceeding flood stage. Flooding across low lying and other flood prone areas will also be possible.
