... Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday afternoon...
The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of central Illinois... including the following
counties... Cass... Fulton... Logan... Mason... Menard... Morgan...
Sangamon... Schuyler and Scott.
* Through Tuesday afternoon.
* Periods of rain will continue across the area through
Tuesday... although there will likely be a break this afternoon.
Rainfall so far has ranged as high as 1 to 2 inches from
Jacksonville to Lincoln eastward... with a half to 1 inch
closer to the Illinois River. An additional 1 to 3 inches
will be possible through late Tuesday.
* Area river have already begun to rise as a result of this rain.
Portions of the Sangamon river may approach flood stage later
this week. Portions of the Illinois River are still in flood
from the heavy rain a couple weeks ago... and this additional rain
will likely cause renewed rises.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
