Through 1130 PM...an area of rain and scattered thunderstorms will continue to slowly move across southeast Missouri and of counties bordering the Mississippi River in southern Illinois and western Kentucky. Torrential downpours across portions of Jackson and Perry counties in Illinois will produce localized flash flooding with some roads impassable in low lying areas. This activity is showing very little progress toward areas further east.

Jackson County in southern Illinois... north central Union County in southern Illinois... * until 1130 PM CDT. * At 921 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a large cluster of thunderstorms moving into the warned area capable of producing locally heavy rainfall. The ground in these areas is partially saturated from earlier rainfall... so some runoff is expected.. * locations in the warning include... Murphysboro... Ava... Precautionary/preparedness actions... Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the warned area. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding. Heavy rain m4.50 inch, reported by co-op observer. Observer reported 4.5 inches of rain over past 3 hours. Ditches in front of house overflowing... between 2.5 and 3 feet deep... onto sidewalks.
