Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 8:46 AM CDT on September 05, 2015

... The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
1000 am CDT/1100 am EDT/ for eastern Kankakee... eastern Iroquois...
Newton... western Benton and Southern Lake counties...

At 842 am CDT /942 am EDT/... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due
to thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen in
Iroquois County Illinois from Donovan and Watseka south to
Wellington... and 1 to 3 inches of rain in rural sections of Benton
and Newton counties of Indiana. An additional 1 to 2 inches of
rainfall are possible as slow moving thunderstorms continue this
morning.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kankakee... Bradley... Lowell... Manteno... Watseka... Momence... Fowler...
Kentland... Morocco... Stockland... Beaver City... Percy Junction...
Raub... Sumava Resorts... Enos... Dunnington... Perkins... Freeland
Park... Roselawn and Talbot.

Including the following interstates...
I-57 between mile markers 309 and 315... and between mile markers 322
and 324. Indiana I-65 between mile markers 232 and 241.

This includes... US 41 dragway.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
