Edgar Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Special Statement
Statement as of 3:54 AM CST on January 25, 2015

...Rain changing to snow over central through east central Illinois today...

A storm system will move across Illinois today bringing rain to most areas early this morning before mixing with snow over locations north of Interstate 74 later this morning. The rain snow mix will gradually change to snow from northwest to southeast as colder air funnels into the state in the wake of the storm. The highest accumulations of snow will likely be along and north of Interstate 74 where around two inches...with locally higher amounts...can be expected by early evening. Lighter accumulations will be possible across the remainder of central Illinois.

Temperatures are expected to be above freezing much of the time...so any snow that accumulates on roadways will be fairly slushy. Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing later this afternoon north and northwest of Peoria...which will cause some slippery and icy conditions on area roadways.
