The National Weather Service in Spokane, WA has issued a
* Flood Warning for the Coeur D'Alene river at Cataldo. * From Friday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 08:30 PM Thursday the stage was 41.2 feet. * Minor flooding is forecast with a crest close to 45 feet on Sunday morning. The river is expected to exceed the flood stage of 43 feet Friday afternoon... crest on Sunday morning near 45 feet... and fall below flood stage on Tuesday. * Flood stage is 43 feet. * At 43 feet... flooding of farmland from Cataldo downstream to Harrison is likely. At 44 feet... homes near the river may experience some flooding of basements. At 44 feet... ccc Road will begin to be flooded near the mennonite church.

The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of Idaho and Washington... including the following counties... in Idaho... Benewah... Bonner... boundary... Kootenai... Lewis... Nez Perce and Shoshone. In Washington... Chelan... Ferry... Okanogan... Pend Oreille... Spokane and Stevens.
* Through Saturday morning
* unseasonably warm temperatures combined with above normal mountain snow-pack are forecast to produce significant rises on many rivers throughout the inland northwest. Several rivers in the area are forecast to reach flood stage sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning.
* Smaller rivers and streams will respond rapidly to the warming temperatures over the next 24 to 36 hours. Main Stem rivers will rise in response shortly afterward. In Idaho... flooding is forcasted on portions of the moyie... Coeur D'Alene... and St Joe rivers by Sunday. In Washington flooding is forecast on the Stehekin River by Sunday and the Spokane river at Spokane by the middle of next week. Several other main Stem rivers in the inland northwest are forecast to approach flood stage over the next 3 to 5 days. Significant rises are also anticipated on the Clearwater river in the southern Idaho Panhandle in the Sunday... Monday... and Tuesday time frame.
A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in the watch area.
You should monitor forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
