Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 7:31 PM PDT on May 28, 2015

... The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
900 PM PDT for western Kootenai and Spokane counties...

At 717 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area.

A report of shallow water over the Road was received near the
intersection of Highway 41 and Interstate 90 at 717 PM PDT. At the
time of the report the water was slowing traffic but not closing the
Road. With the radar still showing heavy downpours in the
area... motorists need to be prepared for the possibility of Road
closers. Poor visibility and Hydro planing are a near certainty in
the heaviest downpours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches
can float a car.
