... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 11 am this morning to 11 am MST Thursday for locations above 7000 feet elevation...
The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for moderate snow... which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 11 am MST Thursday.
Snow will develop in the central Idaho mountains this afternoon... primarily in The Sawtooth range and in the mountains surrounding The Wood river basin. Snowfall amounts will range from 2 to 12 inches from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday mid-day. The heavier amounts of snow will stay above the 7000 foot elevation. This should affect mainly roads and anyone recreating at those elevations. Below 7000 feet... the snow will mix with rain and make for sloppy travel conditions. Light snow will continue on Thursday and Thursday night.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
