Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, May 23, 2013. A strong, large storm will continue making its way through the eastern third of the country on Thursday, producing more, active weather east of the Mississippi Valley. While the active weather is not likely to produce the severe thunderstorms that have greeted the country over the past several days, scattered thunderstorms will be likely, especially in the Southeast. In addition, moderate to occasionally heavy rain will move through the Northeast, followed by cool showers in the Ohio Valley and Upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, some moisture pushing into the Southern Plains could possibly instigate some severe thunderstorms in northern Texas and western Oklahoma. Due to this possibility, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather in the area for Thursday. This means residents in the area should prepare as if severe weather will develop, making any necessary preparations to protect life and property.

Also, a seasonably strong low pressure system will linger over the Pacific Northwest today, allowing wet weather to continue in the area. While rain will be the overwhelming precipitation due to this storm, a few snow showers will be possible in the higher elevations of the Cascades.

Additionally, rain will also spread as far east as central Montana.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains will rise into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest will see similar temperatures.

Through 9 am...patchy fog will impact portions of the northeast Washington and northern Idaho...including a few spots around the Spokane and Coeur D'Alene area. Some of this will be locally dense with visibilities less than a half mile at times. Some locations to expect restrictions in visibility include...but are not limited to...area along the I-90 and Highway 2 corridor through the West Plains and Airway Heights area...west toward Davenport...near the Nine Mile Falls area and along the Spokane river. Portions of the Highway 95 corridor toward Bonners Ferry can also expect locally dense fog. Watch for rapidly changing visibilities and slow down when traveling.
