...Winter Storm Watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon above 5500 feet...

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Winter Storm Watch above 5500 feet...which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

* Timing...from 3 PM MDT Saturday to 5 PM MST Sunday.

* Main impact...snow fall of 5 to 8 inches of snow above 5500 feet.

* Locations include...Galena Summit...Ketchum...MacKay...Targhee Pass...Island Park...Ashton hill...Soda Springs...Fish Creek Summit...Georgetown Summit.

* Other impacts....slick roads over lower elevations and snow packed roads on mountain passes will make driving conditions hazardous. Additionally...look for reduced visibilities from blowing and drifting snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

* Winds...southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Locations include...Burley...Raft River Valley...Pocatello... Soda Springs...Malad and Montpelier.

* Impacts...strong gusty winds will make driving difficult at times. In addition...blowing dust and reduced visibility is likely on Interstate 84 between the Interstate 86 interchange and the Utah state line.
