Statement as of 6:31 AM CDT on July 10, 2009 ... Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall affecting the region... An area of thunderstorms is moving across the area this morning. The stronger storms have brought very heavy rainfall... with rainfall rates of over an inch an hour. These stronger storms have affected areas mainly between highways 30 and 20... and west of a line from Dyersville to Tipton. A few locations in this area have received 1 to 2 inches of rainfall from these storms so far this morning. Additional... lighter rainfall amounts are expected to continue until 9 am. Before the showers and thunderstorms end this morning... some locations may have received up to 4 inches of rainfall. Expect ponding of water on roads and in low-lying areas... and rises in area streams and creeks. Please report any very heavy rainfall rates... water on roads... and any bankfull roadside ditches to local law enforcement for relay to the National Weather Service. Lat...
