At 351 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located near Waterloo... moving southeast at 25 mph.
The severe thunderstorm will be near... Evansdale by 405 am CDT... Elk Run Heights and Raymond by 410 am CDT... Gilbertville and La Porte City by 415 am CDT...
At 346 am... an amateur radio spotter reported 60 mph winds... blinding rain... small hail and three inch diameter tree branches down three miles west southwest of the Waterloo Airport.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
If you are in the path of this storm... prepare immediately for large hail... damaging winds and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter... preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.
