Calamus... Bennett... Port Byron... Erie... Cordova and Albany
At 112 PM CDT... the heaviest rains were occurring over the eastern
half of Rock Island County with moderate rains extending to the
north and east over most of Scott... Whiteside and Henry County as
well as southern Clinton County.
The heavy rains have already resulted in some flooding in Cedar
County where water was reported over Highway 38 near Tipton. A
report of 2.5 inches of rain and water around a foot deep on Highway
67 near Milan in Rock Island County was received around 1 PM.
In addition to the heavy rain and flooding reports... stream gages
along Duck Creek basin Davenport and western Scott County were
showing significant rises. Gage readings indicated that Duck Creek
at Fairmont Avenue was within a half foot of its flood stage of 12
feet around 1 PM.
As of 120 PM Doppler radar was showing that rains were moving east
and slowly decreasing in intensity. If this trend continues... the
heavy rains should move east of the area by 2 or 3 PM.
However... runoff from the rainfall will continue to cause some
flooding well into the afternoon.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Flooding of small streams and creeks... streets... underpasses and low
lying urban areas is likely.
