Statement as of 3:41 AM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Flood Warning now in effect until Monday... The Flood Warning continues for the Wapsipinicon River near De Witt. * Until Monday. * At 3:00 am Friday the stage was 7.9 feet... and rising. * Flood stage is 11 feet. * No flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * Recent activity... the river is rising due to heavy rain and snow melt. * Forecast... rise above flood stage this morning... and continue rising to 12.3 feet Saturday morning. Fall below flood stage Monday. * Impact... at 12 feet... overbank flooding occurs. Water affects residences along the river between Wheatland and Calamus. Water affects businesses along the river near Calamus. |

Statement as of 8:26 AM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Significant temperature drop coming... Cold air moving in from the southwest will drop temperatures into the 20s this afternoon. These temperatures will allow wet roads to freeze with a layer of ice on them... resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Additionally... accumulating snow will also be seen. Snowfall accumulations of up to an inch are possible by sunset. |
