Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:01 AM CST on November 16, 2009
... Flood Watch in effect from noon CST today through Tuesday
afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a
* Flood Watch for portions of west central Illinois... southeast
Iowa and northeast Missouri... including the following areas...
in west central Illinois... Hancock... Henderson... McDonough and
Warren. In southeast Iowa... Des Moines... Henry IA...
Jefferson... Keokuk... Lee... Louisa... Van Buren and Washington.
In northeast Missouri... Clark and Scotland.
* From noon CST today through Tuesday afternoon
* widespread rainfall amounts from 1 to 3 inches are expected
today through Tuesday as a slow moving storm system impacts the
region.
* Runoff from the rainfall is expected to cause significant
rises... and possible flooding on area rivers. Also... showers
with more localized heavy rainfall rates may result in flooding
of small streams and creeks.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. Monitor later forecasts and take action if a
Flood Warning is issued or flooding develops.
