    ... First 80 degree day of the year...

    For the first time this year... the temperature in Des Moines reached 80 degrees.
    Through 1 PM... the high temperature at the Des Moines Airport was 80 degrees.

    The average date of the first high temperature of 80 or higher is April 18. The
    earliest occurrence of 80 degrees was March 3 in 1983. The latest occurrence of
    80 degrees was June 5 in 1892. The last time it was in the 80s in Des Moines was
    November 7 of last year when it reached 82 degrees.
