Statement as of 7:25 PM CST on December 21, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon... A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon. * Measurable precipitation will start on Wednesday and continue through Friday. The precipitation will come in waves with a period of lighter precipitation expected Wednesday night. * Snow amounts of 1 to 4 inches is possible on Wednesday. Another 4 to 8 inches of snow is possible Thursday into Thursday night. * Sleet accumulations of one quarter inch or less are possible Wednesday afternoon. Another round of sleet with amounts of one quarter inch or less are possible on Thursday. * East winds of 15 to 25 mph may cause some drifting of the snow Wednesday afternoon and evening. Late Friday afternoon west winds may increase to 15 to 20 mph causing some additional drifting. * Visibilities may be one quarter mile or less during periods of heavy snow on Thursday. * Significant to severe travel impacts are expected from this storm Wednesday through Friday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... and/or ice accumulations that would seriously impact travel.
